Nicolas Piveteau - Progression By FailureProgression By Failure is a project initiated by a young french compositor named Nicolas PIVETEAU. He was born in 1981 and started to play keyboards at 10 years old. He also plays guitar and drums.

This project is a vision of the progressive music, based on a large panorama between power & emotions. The search of beautiful melodies, power riffs & light atmospheres, is the essence of this project.

In 2009, Nicolas composes and records alone, a self-titled album released on the progressive-rock label, Musea. This record is influenced by progressive rock, but also by metal and pop-music.

The songs are made like a tribute to progressive rock like Spock’s Beard (Memories From The Future) & Transatlantic (Progression By Failure), to dark metal prog like Opeth & Meshuggah (Desperate Anger) & to symphonic prog like Therion (Talion).

This first record was well received and has a lot of positives reviews. Nicolas has also done some interviews for specialized medias, like the magazine Prog Resite (n°58) and the web site Progarchives ( .

With this success, Nicolas starts to compose a new record. Nine new tracks are born and give life to this second issue called “Sonic Travelogue”.  From a length of 4 to 12 minutes, these new compositions mix progressive rock, classical music, jazz, post-rock…

For this new record, Nicolas Piveteau is surrounded by Drayen Labie on guitars and Mike Saccoman on drums.
